Defining Moments

How I responded to discouragement

  • THE NOISE

    Messages from Myself:

I didn't have enough internships and co-op employment opportunities to get a job with a major engineering company.

  • How I responded:

I overcame this noise by constantly working as hard as I could in whatever I did. I may or may not have had all the "requirements" for certain positions but I was able to prove my work ethic through school, jobs, and leadership opportunities. People always want to say you aren't doing enough, but what matters at the end of the day is if you are doing all that you can, phsyically and mentally, to succeed.

Experiences and challenges that shaped me

  • Money was tight after my parents split, and I didn't want my choices affected by it. I decided to start working to make my own money and have the ability to make the decisions I wanted. I took control of my situation so that others couldn't.
